Metal seated butterfly valve
Metal seated butterfly valve for exhaust gas applications
“Somas has developed a range of metal seated butterfly / shut-off and control valves for exhaust gas applications that meet the requirements of EN 12516-2 and ASME B16.34.
Typical applications for these valves in diesel engines, gas engines and exhaust gas systems are:
waste gates, EGR, turbo shutdown, slow steaming, air bypass, gas scrubbers, heat recovery
Somas exhaust gas valves have many technical advantages.
The geometry of the disc is designed in such a way that it only comes into contact with the seal when it is fully closed. This ensures that the wear on the sealing surface is kept to a minimum and a long service life is guaranteed.
The valves have a solid seat design and are therefore resistant to clogging.
The shaft bearings are designed as standard in metal-to-metal pairs, which means that the valves can be used without any problems in high temperature applications.
All valves are supplied as standard with a graphite gland. Other materials are available.
Somas VSS / HT and MTV / HT valves are bi-directional and can therefore be installed in both directions.”
Metal seated butterfly valve for marine applications
“The metal seated butterfly / shut-off and control valves type MTVC and MTVCL are intended for marine applications.
The butterfly valve type MTVC is a wafer type valve for mounting between flanges.
The valve MTVCL is a lug type valve.

Metal seated butterfly valve for oil & gas applications
“Somas valves type MTV, MTVG and MTVL are on/off valves and control valves that have been specially developed for oil and gas applications and are designed to control over a wide temperature range.
They are normally supplied with a metal seat.
They are all triple eccentric valves and due to the unique design of the valve disc, a solid stainless steel seat can be used. This solid seat is resistant to high flow velocities and temperatures. This allows us to achieve high functional reliability even in difficult applications.
The MTV valve can be supplied as a wafer type or lug type valve.
The valve type MTVG is a wafer valve with 4 guide bores.”
On/off and control butterfly valves
The throttle valves HRD and HRA are designed as a wafer type valve with a centric valve disc.
Depending on the choice of material, they are designed for operating temperatures up to 1050°C. In the high-temperature version, they have a welded wafer type housing or a one-piece housing.
The throttle valves are suitable for valves according to DIN EN 1092-1 or ASME B16.5 / ASME B16.47, with lengths according to DIN EN 558-1-R20, as well as from DN400 according to the company standard.
The connecting flange is for actuators according to DIN EN ISO 5211.
Testing according to DIN EN 12266.
SIL approval according to ICE 61508 and ICE 61511
Versions:
HRD without seat (leakage approx. 1% of surface equivalent),
HRA metal seated (leakage approx. 0.5% of surface equivalent), HRA with seal ring (leakage approx. 0.3% of surface equivalent),
HRA with metal travel stop ring with seal ring (leakage approx. 0.1% of surface equivalent)
